How to Become a Better Person (5 Tips)

Here are 5 quick life lessons that have helped me so far….

1. Stop Focusing on Yourself. We are selfish by nature (for the most part) and when we get so obsessed on what we want or how bad our lives are, we lost focus on other things in life and forget that the key to life is giving (See tip #2).

2. Give. This is the key to life. Give anything you can and make positive changes in life. Giving does not at all mean giving just “money”. Giving can be giving simple things like your time, your assistance, your opinion, your encouragement, or your time (which in life is perhaps most valuable).

3. Stop Listening to Negative Thoughts. This is very dangerous. Most of your thoughts are very negative and will tell you that you are not good enough or that you are not qualified to do what you really want to. You are usually your own worst enemy, so try to work with yourself and not against yourself.

4. Don’t Worry About What Other People Think of You. Life is too short to focus on what other people (who are just as insecure as you) think of you. This is a huge mistake we make in life every day. We often behave as we think others expect us to, but we should behave like we naturally do. Don’t live your life based on what society or friends think of you. Take advice and constructive criticism, but don’t let it destroy your world. If you are grounded enough and wise, you will make the right decisions.

5. Learn From Your Mistakes and Cherish Them. It sounds odd to say cherish your mistakes, but I would not be alive if I did not. Mistakes are part of life and they make us stronger every day. When we were children, we made countless mistakes because it was part of our learning process. Today, we are grown, but life is all about learning, so it is foolish to think that we will ever stop making mistakes. Accept it as it is a natural part of life and often a blessing. Just make sure you at least LEARN from the mistakes and don’t repeat them too often or you are missing the point. You would not be walking right now if you did not keep falling and then learn from those mistakes. Therefore, I cherish the fact that I’ve fallen a lot in life.
