Amie Street.com: An Avant-Garde Music Site

March 12, 2008

Never mind the bullocks, here comes AmieSt.com. One of my close friends turned me onto a fantastic independent music based site called AmieSt.com as an avenue to to promote my own recordings and solo-projects. Well needless to say, I’m so fascinated with the site and it’s primary concept that I’m sharing it with you all today. Amie Street is an extremely unique and high quality site that allows global musicians to upload, promote, and sell their music online, but with an avant-garde twist to it. The site is caters to the art-savvy individuals who are looking to stumble upon new and unknown artists (and are sick of the barrage of monotonous tunes on the radio). The coolest thing about this site and interface is that instead of having the same blanket price of say $9.99 for an entire record, or .99 cents per song, Amie Street includes artists who give away songs completely FREE, or sell songs for a few pennies. The price ranges apparently are directly related to the popularity of each song or artist, but it is a lot cheaper than most of the mainstream sites you will visit today. The site proclaims on its landing page that that the songs are priced from “FREE” to 98 cents each. This is a great alternative to the repetitious MTV endorsements, and also allows the listers to support independent bands, while paying a very reasonable price for music. May Amie street and visionaries alike live long and help the underrated musicians prosper.
